Monetizing Blogs Do’s and Don’ts

Monetizing Blogs is very interesting especially if you want to earn passive income. Here are some things that you should know before starting this business.

Blogging has become more than just a way of expressing yourself and talking about the mundane things happening in your life. These days, blogging equates to earning extra money. Monetizing blogs can be done using a number of effective ways.

Do use ads to earn money.

The most common, also the most effective, way of earning money is through ads. When your website visitors click on your ads, you immediately earn money. There are no limitations to the amount of money you can earn.

You can earn as little as $100 per month or as big as $10,000 per month. It depends on how popular your blog is and how many readers you have.

Do not overload your website with ads.

The idea of earning money from ads probably propelled a lot of people into embedding a lot of advertisements in their site. But there is such a thing as over monetizing your blog.

Websites with so many advertisements can be off-putting to readers. Rather than stay and read your blog, they will probably become so annoyed that they will leave immediately.

So strategize where you are going to put your ads. Don’t sign up to multiple ad accounts. One or two will do. Just find out which one works better for you.

You can try experimenting to find out which program earns you more money. In the case of many bloggers, they find Google Adsense and Chitika more ideal when it comes to monetizing their blogs.

Do encourage companies to sponsor your blog.

A lot of bloggers earn extra money with blog sponsorships. If the blog has a high page rank, companies will go out of their way to reach you and ask for an advertising space in your blog. You can use the sidebar of your blog to add sponsor links.

Monetizing BlogsSet up an advertising rate for sponsors on a monthly basis. Some sponsors also send a sample of their products to the blog owners as a way of promotion.

Since blogging is a strong marketing medium, a review of the sample product might help boost their sales. You can also benefit from such a program.

Do sign up for an affiliate program.

A blog will work better if you have something to write about or you have something to promote. If you are not getting sponsors, you can always sign up for affiliate programs.

Affiliate programs are similar to selling products that allow you to earn commissions. The difference is that you are using the internet as a medium to sell the products of other companies.

Also, you are basically targeting millions of people from all over the world so you can earn more money even without contacting clients personally.

The rules for affiliate marketing differ. Some will require you to write promotional articles about the ingredients of their products.

Xtend life is an example. In their skin care product line, they ask their affiliates to promote the contents of the product but never to mention the name of the product so it won’t look like a promotion at all.

It is like giving tips to your readers but inserting the benefits of a product that contains those ingredients.

Most affiliate programs will only require you to add their banner to your website. The banner will contain a link that will be directed to the sales page.

Do update your blog regularly.

A blog that has been left in a hibernating mode for a long time can lose its valued readers. Also, if you are regularly updating your blog, search engines are more likely to index your site so it will show up easily in search lists. This way, you will gain more traffic that might help increase revenues.

So keep those articles coming. Search for relevant keywords that can allow your blog to show up on the search list of Google. Upload at least one article in your blog per day that your readers will find interesting and helpful.

Don’t be biased.

Always be objective when you are promoting products in your blog. Discuss about the pros and cons of the products so your readers will see your blog as a reliable source of information. Blogs that offer unbiased reviews and information are more likely to gain readers and followers.

Also, when you are accepting sponsorships, make sure you really believe in the products of your sponsors. Since you are promoting them, it would be like telling your readers that you also like the products they are selling.

Do offer giveaways.

Giveaways will definitely send more readers flocking to your blog. Monetizing blogs will entail gaining more traffic so you would want to use methods that can drive more traffic to your blog. One of them is to offer giveaways.

Some bloggers sign up for affiliate programs that give them gift cards instead of commissions. The gift cards can be used to shop in the store of the affiliate company. Some bloggers use the gift cards to shop for giveaways.

Monetizing blogs do not have to be difficult. Just keep these simple tips in mind and you will find ways to earn extra money.

Content Marketing: The Truth behind a Misunderstood Phrase

Curious about how Content Marketing works for other online businesses? How does it really work and how can you use it? Find out by reading on.

Content marketing is a form of marketing that aims to distribute relevant and valuable information to acquire and attract a sure target market. It is a type of marketing that makes you communicate information to your prospect buyers without actually sounding like your selling your product to them or persuading them to buy from you.

It’s like describing your service/ product in a way that your prospects might get attracted to buying without you looking like you are trying to actually persuade them.

Content MarketingWhat Makes Content Marketing Different from “Regular Marketing”?

The regular way people market their product is just by throwing in their product into the people, telling them that the product/service will be helpful for them without actually telling them why or how.

A company that uses the regular type of marketing usually lures people by giving discounts or promos. This makes the people believe that they are getting value for their money. Why? Because the company makes it look like they’re buying something useful and valuable for a cheaper cost.

Content marketing doesn’t do that. Content marketing informs the people about the product/service, gives them the benefits that it gives its users, and tells them what the product/service can do. It presents a product/service like an inventor would present its invention.

Don’t inventors explain and make people understand the value and use of his invention? That’s what content marketing tries to do; it makes you understand the product/service in a way that might convince you into actually using it.

Content marketing is also about exposure. By repeatedly exposing your product/service through different advertising means, people would get intrigued by what your product/service is all about, making them want to know it and eventually patronize it.

Social Media: Content Marketing’s New Best Friend

People who have social networking accounts think a person is weird if he doesn’t have at least a Facebook account. Yes, that’s how needed social media is in today’s time. Most people have at least one account online.

But hey, doesn’t content marketing need a market to actually do marketing? Social media has that. Actually, it is that. Social media is a great way to do content marketing because almost every person in the world is in it.

It also is the fastest, easiest way to do content marketing. Plus, you get results out of your marketing strategy in a short span of time.

The Case for Long Tail Keywords

Long Tail Keywords are one of the important concepts in search engine optimization. If you’re not very knowledgeable about it, here are some facts to help you.

Keywords – this concept is very relevant in the world of webmasters, content providers and website owners who want to up their site’s ranking in online search engine results pages, to increase web traffic in their sites, and to get a higher chance of earning money online.

But what sets apart the neophytes from the masters in the game of search engine optimization is what is known as the long tail keywords.

Long Tail KeywordsLong tail keywords are keywords that are about three to five keyword phrases strung together. They are very specific, very particular to a product or service that an online entrepreneur is selling.

They are designed to target Internet users—members of a target niche market—who are looking for a very specific product or service at a time when they are almost ready to make a purchase.

The use of long tail keywords can be quite tricky, but it is very rewarding. Successful use of long tail keywords means a significant boost to any website’s conversion rate, meaning that searches on long tail keywords will more likely than not become a sale.

This is so because most customers think that the website that appears in the results of page of a search engine matches their needs exactly given the very specific search that they have recently run.

Also, Internet users who search for long tail keywords already knows exactly what they want, having done prior research, and are already in the last stages of canvassing before buying.

Despite those advantages, anchoring a website’s online strategy just on long tail keywords is also a big risk for those who have limited experience in using them.

If they were used inappropriately, there is a big chance that the website will never make it to the top of the results page, which in turn will mean no (or low) site hit and definitely no profit for a website.

Fortunately, the ability to properly use long tail keywords can be learned, and the best way to do this is to just take the plunge.

During the first few times that a webmaster or content provider will try their hand at using these kinds of keywords, their best bet will be to go to search engines themselves and check their ranking of popular searches.

From there, it will be easy to see the list of high-ranking, specific-enough, but not-too-obscure long tail keywords to use to push a particular website to the top of the results page.

In cases when there are many keywords in the list, it is best to create a specific article or webpage for each keyword in that list so that all bases are covered and more people—whatever related long tail keyword combination they are searching for—will land on the website whose rankings the webmaster or content provider intended to push.

The next great frontier for businesses now is the Internet. With its wide reach, millions of users and endless amount of information, it has become a truly dynamic and attractive money-making machine, and your business will do good to harness its powers. Here are 5 ways of making cash online for your business.

Making Cash OnlineBlogging

Today, the voice of countless other users—ordinary people who are consumers and customers themselves—have become as powerful in influencing consumer behavior as the official information that a person gets from companies’ advertisements and information sheet. Thus, many people turn to blogging of other people to get information, help, reviews, or advise for anything that they want to purchase or avail of.

It will be wise for your online business to partner with bloggers to help you in making cash online. Find a blog with contents that are relevant to your business and receives a large enough number of hits. Contact the blogger/owner/webmaster and request for your business to be featured in the blog, which may or may not be free. If you can place contact information and a link to your business’ website, that would be better. Afterwards, wait for the blog readers to be directed to your website.

Online Marketing/Advertising

For your next business marketing plan, why not include as one of your marketing activities online promotions or advertising? Your advertising agency may be able to help you with placing ads, or you yourself can scour for yourself the sites where you think your advertisement will work most efficiently.

Most big sites that are open for advertisements usually have special links for advertisers, so you can just click on those and follow the ensuing instructions. Just remember to place an ad in websites that are relevant to your product and which has a large traffic count. For example, if your business is about cars, you may want to place ads with a motoring e-magazine which receives at least a thousand hits per day.

Online Shopping/Retailing

Sites like eBay or Amazon accept placement of products for buying and selling. Using this will bring your products or services to a huge market with very little cost. However, because these are already well-established sites with thousands upon thousands of items being bought and sold, you have to be clever about product positioning or labeling. Again, understanding the use of proper keywords is a good way to encourage better sales for your products and/or services.

Aside from this, you can also set up an online shop in your own website where people can place orders and transact business with you. This is very efficient in terms of payments, inventory and delivery management. It also effectively translates consumer interest for the company or brand to actual sales.
