The essence of composing a marketing business plan is focusing your money, efforts, resources and time on something that will profit your business greatly.
The goal is not to write an ultra long plan that seems impossible to even put to practice. It is better to make the simplest, easiest strategy plan that you can follow immediately.
- Make your Mission Statement First.
A mission statement is a declaration of your organization’s purpose or reason for being. It is where your organization’s actions revolve around.
Therefore, be sure that this is the first task you accomplish for you to be able to be successful in completing all the other steps in your marketing plan.
- Make Short Term Goals
Make at least three specific, detailed goals that you must achieve. This must be goals that are possible to be achieved in a short time. A short time can either be a week, a month, or a couple of months, or even a year.
Examples:
1) Instead of saying, “We will recruit new workers to the Public Relations Department,” it is more effective to say “We will hire three new Public Relations Head by the end of the month.”
2) Instead of, “We will increase our profit,” it is best to say, “We will increase our profit by 5% by the end of this quarter.”
- Create Long Term Goals
Similar to the above, but this time, you must write what you want to accomplish for the next two, three, or even five years.
This must be really realistic, focused, and feasible. This is where your short term goals are based, so it is important that this be completed.
- Create a Buyer Persona
A buyer persona is the division of people in a specific target market that share the same interest, characteristics, and demographics.
It is important to have this so that you know how to formulate plans specially intended for your buyer persona.
- Make a monthly goal chart/to-do list
A serious business needs to follow something. That’s why it’s so important to have a to-do list: to be able to keep everything organized and not messed up.
Be sure to follow it, though, because if you don’t, you might end up messing things up more.
